This January, Dennis Hannan noticed that his golf cart was missing from his carport. He reported it stolen and within minutes found it listed on Craigslist. He took his findings to the man he bought the cart from and discovered that this had happened on several occasions.
Three golf carts and small electric vehicles have been stolen in the Florida Keys area since this summer, yet only one arrest has been made in connection with them. After speaking with another man in jail, police arrested Sean Richardson, who was in jail for unrelated charges.
During the seventh hole of an 18-hole game, two golfers were interrupted by a man with a gun, who stole their golf cart. This man turned out to be Jerome Inman, who is one of three men involved in a car theft. Inman had stolen a car, crashed it, and then ran onto the course looking to “make a faster getaway.”
In July 2019, four golf carts were stolen from the Byron Hills Golf Club in Port Byron, Illinois. Just a month before, Country View Golf Club in Geneseo also lost four golf carts and in early June, Highland Springs in Milan lost four carts to the thieves.
